Marco Rose’s RB Leipzig returned from the Bundesliga winter break with a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Eintracht Frankfurt, last weekend. Ansgar Knauff’s early goal has allowed Borussia Dortmund to close the gap on Leipzig in the top four ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. Bayer Leverkusen, with several absentees, managed to pull off a dramatic 1-0 victory at Augsburg with a 94th minute winner from Exequiel Palacios. Leverkusen have been absolutely magnificent this weekend and may even welcome Florian Wirtz back into the starting eleven. This remains a real test for Xabi Alonso’s men but an entertaining encounter should well be in store as Leipzig try to bounce back.
