THE LOWDOWN
BORUSSIA DORTMUND
Borussia Dortmund have slipped well behind the early Bundesliga front-runners following an awful turn of domestic form just prior to the international break. Consecutive league defeats to Bayern Munich and Stuttgart respectively has seen them drop out of the Champions League places and down into fifth-spot, so the pressure is now on them to bounce back.
Edin Terzic’s side also have the distraction of an extremely tight Champions League group to contend with and a crucial trip to AC Milan in midweek follows this match. They’ll be hoping that this doesn’t have an adverse effect on their performance levels here.
BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH
Borussia Monchengladbach are in a fairly solid spot as they head into the final stretch of games before the winter break. Seven points accrued from the last nine available to them puts the visiting side in ninth-place and just inside the top half going into the weekend. Now the key is whether they can extend this unbeaten run.
Most recently, Gladbach took on Wolfsburg and made a real statement to the rest of the Bundesliga, beating them comprehensively by four goals to nil. Such a result will have done wonders for them confidence wise going into another tough fixture.

BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH
Borussia Monchengladbach still have plenty of players missing post international break, including first-choice goalkeeper Jonas Umlin. When taking into account that the likes of Itakura, Jantschke and Wolf are all out to name just three players, it leaves boss Gerardo Seoane with some thinking to do ahead of naming his starting XI.
PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Nicolas; Scally, Elvedi, Wober; Honorat, Neuhaus, Weigl, Kone, Netz; Cvancara, Plea
UNAVAILABLE: Itakura (Injured), Jantschke (Injured), Lainer (Fitness), Omlin (Injured), Ullrich (Injured), Wolf (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
The international break came at a crucial time for Borussia Dortmund, who should come out of the traps flying in a bid to impose themselves on Borussia Monchengladbach and get back to winning ways. The visitors are in good form but have conceded the most goals of the entire Bundesliga top half and such defensive instability is likely to be pounced upon by a dangerous Dortmund frontline. Over the course of 90 minutes, the hosts are worth backing to get themselves back on track with an important victory.
