THE TEAM NEWS
KOLN
- Koln failed to win for a fourth consecutive game in the Bundesliga and they could still get sucked into the relegation battle if they are not careful following a disappointing showing on the road at Hoffenheim last week.
- The visitors fell behind early in the contest and their task was made much more difficult after they were reduced to 10 men with just 25 minutes on the clock following Sebastiaan Bornauw’s red card for a poor challenge which would see them go on to concede another two goals.
- Koln did pull a goal back thanks to a strike from substitute Florian Kainz after the hosts’ numerical advantage was wiped out and he will hope his performance from the bench can earn a place in the starting XI while they will also hope to have Rafael Czichos back in the fold to replace the suspended Bornauw.
RB LEIPZIG
- RB Leipzig failed to win for the second time in three matches since the resumption of the Bundesliga and their hopes of staying in the title race are all but over after a fourth draw in their last five league matches.
- Leipzig were forced to come from behind at home to Hertha but levelled through Lukas Klostermann and then took a second half lead thanks to Partrick Schick’s effort which came just five minutes after they had been reduced to 10 men because of a second yellow for Marcel Halstenberg.
- However, Leipzig’s indiscipline came back to bite them as they conceded a late penalty which Hertha converted and they must respond here to get themselves back into the top four but they could be without Kevin Kampl who was a late withdrawal before kick-off last week.
THE PREDICTION
With the Bundesliga title now almost certainly remaining with Bayern
Munich, RB Leipzig must turn their attention to finishing as high up the
table as possible with second place still in their sights. They have
won just one of their last five and come into this game sitting outside
of the Champions League places. They head to Koln who are on a poor run
of form having failed to win any of their last four and with nine goals
conceded across those games, Leipzig should be able to take advantage to
come away with all three points.
