THE TEAM NEWS

BAYERN MUNICH

  • Bayern Munich were not at their fluent best but were comfortably the better side as they took the three points on the road at Union Berlin with the 0-2 success increasing their unbeaten run in Bundesliga to 12 matches.
  • In a scrappy first half, Bayern looked like they would be left frustrated but were able to break the deadlock thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s spot kick and that gave the league leaders a platform to build from in the second half with them finally killing the game off in the 80th minute through Benjamin Pavard.
  • Despite having the option to retain the same starting XI as last week after coming through that game unscathed, Bayern may opt to implement a few changes with one eye on their huge game with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT

  • Eintracht Frankfurt put in a disappointing display on their return to Bundesliga action and there will be alarm bells ringing after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat when losing to Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend.
  • Frankfurt got off to the worst possible start as they found themselves behind inside just a minute and that deficit was doubled seven minutes in as Gladbach exploited their weaknesses at the back.
  • The visitors added a third before Andre Silva’s consolation inside the final 10 minutes but the defeat leaves Frankfurt lingering above the relegation zone and to make matters worse ahead of this daunting trip to Bayern Munich, they will be without the suspended Dominik Kohr.

THE PREDICTION

Bayern Munich did what was required to see off Union Berlin last week and they have now won 11 of their last 12 matches in Bundesliga. They now host struggling Eintracht Frankfurt who could find themselves in even more trouble at the wrong end of the table come the end of the weekend’s fixtures. They have lost four in a row and with Bayern likely to show a lot more than they did in last week’s win over Union Berlin, this should be a one-sided affair with the hosts able to rack-up a big score.
