STUTTGART
- Stuttgart’s troubles continued as they suffered a second consecutive loss since the resumption of Bundesliga 2 and their promotion challenge is now coming under severe threat.
- Their trip to Holstein Kiel proved fruitless at the weekend despite looking like they had done enough for a point thanks to Nicolas Gonzalez’s penalty, even though they had to play the entire second half with 10 men following Daniel Didavi’s red card.
- Two goals in two minutes in the final 15 minutes gave Kiel a comfortable lead and despite Silias Wamangituka striking to give Stuttgart hope in the closing stages, they were unable to get back on level terms meaning they have failed to win any of their last four and must now cope without Didavi as well as Atakan Karazor who is also suspended.
HAMBURGER SV
- Hamburger SV went into their top of the table clash with Arminia Bielefeld knowing that they needed to win if they were to have a real chance of chasing down the league leaders but were left frustrated in their efforts as they were held to a goalless draw.
- Hamburg made their intentions clear from the off and were able to dominate for large periods of the game but could not find the crucial breakthrough meaning the seven-point gap between the two teams remained ahead of matchday 28.
