Under the management of former Crystal Palace and Nice boss Patrick Vieira, Strasbourg had a really slow start to the season after a heavy summer of investment following the takeover of the club from Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly. The Alsace-based club went into the Ligue 1 winter break in good form and have begun the restart steadily.
They were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with struggling Clermont in their most recent outing, last weekend, with Shamar Nicholson scoring Clermont’s equalising goal in that game. They are now unbeaten in their last eight matches across all competitions, though, as they try and move themselves into the top-half of the table.
PSG
Defending champions and league leaders Paris Saint-Germain were pegged back from 2-0 up to a 2-2 draw by high-flying Stade Brest last weekend. The Parisiens had led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Marco Asensio and Randal Kolo Muani but Mahdi Camara and Mathias Pereira Lage scored second-half goals for Brest in that game.
PSG had been in excellent form prior to that rather frustrating dropping of points.
