THE LOWDOWN

NANTES

After a really difficult opening 20 matches of the campaign, Nantes took the decision to replace manager Pierre Aristouy with Jocelyn Gourvennac before last weekend’s clash with Toulouse. Nantes, of course, as a result of replacing their manager, or perhaps by coincidence, did benefit from the famed ‘new manager bounce’.

Nantes went away to Toulouse and scored after just two minutes via Egyptian international forward Mostafa Mohamed before Tino Kadewere made it two early in the second-half. Thijs Dallinga scored in second-half stoppage-time for Toulouse but Les Canaris held on for victory to end a six-match winless run of form in Ligue 1.

PSG

Luis Enrique is a coach known for a fluent and front foot style of football that can often be complex to a fault, leading to a fair bit of ineffectiveness between both boxes. Heading into the latter stages of the campaign, though, he is in charge of a Paris Saint-Germain side that have really got to grips with his style of football and could well be on the verge of taking advantage of an open UEFA Champions League.

The defending Ligue 1 champions earned a fairly unconvincing 2-0 defeat of an out of form Real Sociedad side at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening with second-half goals from Kylian Mbappe and Bradley Barcola. PSG are now unbeaten in their last 17 matches across all competitions, scoring 47 goals in those games.

THE PREDICTION

Jocelyn Gourvennac had immediate success in his Nantes debut last weekend but they now face an extremely stern test on Saturday evening. They welcome a PSG side that are in excellent form and, whilst Luis Enrique may well make some changes, for example Kylian Mbappe didn’t start against Lille last weekend, PSG were arguably stronger with rotation in Ligue 1 and another comfortable Parisien win is to be expected.

TIP: PSG TO WIN
