THE LOWDOWN

MONTPELLIER

Under the management of Armenian coach Michel Der Zakarian, Montpellier Herault come into this one on the back of an impressive 4-0 demolition of SC Feignies in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France with all four goals coming in the second-half as Becir Omeragic scored before a brace from Akor Adams and also a goal from Sacha Delaye.

In Ligue 1, Montpellier currently sit twelfth in the table with four victories, seven draws and seven defeats in their 18 matches so far this season. They have been fairly poor to watch with just 19 goals scored in those 18 games and their most recent outing, a 2-0 defeat to Stade Brest, means they have won just one of their last nine games in the league.

LILLE

Under the management of former Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk boss, Paulo Fonseca, Lille, playing a progressive style of football, have juggled domestic and continental commitments very well as they try and challenge for a top three finish this season and, as a consequence, UEFA Champions League qualification for next season.

The northerners come into this one on the back of an impressive 3-0 hammering of Lorient a couple of weeks ago before they edged past Racing CFF in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France in their most recent outing, last weekend. Lille have suffered just one defeat in their last 19 matches across all competitions.

THE PREDICTION

Michel Der Zakarian is missing some key players for the visit of Lille this weekend and their indifferent form leaves them in the bottom-half of the table. They have also managed just 19 goals this season and now come up against a Lille side that have been extremely impressive throughout the campaign and they are the overwhelming favourites for this one as they try and make it back-to-back victories after the Ligue 1 winter break.

TIP: LILLE TO WIN
