Monaco will be expecting a top three finish and UEFA Champions League qualification this season. The principality club began the season with an entertaining 4-2 win away to Clermont whereby they did go a goal down early on but came from behind, then went back ahead of Clermont made it 2-2, highlighting a resilience to the side, as well as their obvious talent.
In that match, Wissam Ben Yedder scored a brace but the France international striker has since been charged with rape, attempted rape and sexual assault. Despite that, though, Monaco are continuing to select him for matches and, although a cloud hangs over the club, it does seem as though he will continue to be available for the Monagasque.
STRASBOURG
The summer has been a bit of a wild and crazy one for Strasbourg with the takeover of the club by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital sort of undermining their status as a storied and historic football club, now just an affiliate of Chelsea. However, it does mean they have serious money in comparison to the rest of the French top-flight and will benefit from loan deals from The Blues such as Angelo Gabriel.
They began a season that is expected to be an exciting one for the club with a 2-1 win at home to Olympique Lyonnais. Under the management of Patrick Vieira, they will be expecting to challenge for the top five and European qualification and that victory, whereby they were probably fortunate to get two goals to the good, will be a major boost moving forward.

Under the management of former Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach manager Adi Hutter, Monaco began the season with a 3-4-2-1 system and that is expected to be the case, once again, albeit they will be without five players due to injury.

THE PREDICTION
This one could be quite an entertaining encounter and is a good early test for the new era of Strasbourg. Monaco will come into this as favourites, especially at Stade Louis II, and they will be proactive but they face a Strasbourg side that, under the management of Patrick Vieira, are likely to be a bit deliberate on the ball and able to eventually exploit spaces that Monaco could well leave at the back as they pour forward in the aggressive pressing style of Adi Hutter. Monaco are favourites for this one but both teams scoring good well be good value, too.
