Prior to the winter break, Olympique de Marseille enjoyed an extremely impressive run of form as they sit on the cusp of the top five and the European spots after what had been a slow first-half of the season until their rally. Gennaro Gattuso, who replaced Marcelino earlier in the season, started slowly but is now really getting a tune out of his Marseille side.
The southerners returned from the winter break with a slender 1-0 defeat of lower league Thionville Lusitanos in the Coupe de France last weekend with a winning goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 62nd minute. Marseille have suffered just one defeat in their last nine matches across all competitions.
STRASBOURG
Patrick Vieira came under immense pressure in the first-half of this campaign but they headed into the winter break on the back of some very impressive form, vindicating the decision to keep the Frenchman in the dugout. Strasbourg have actually managed to move themselves into the top-half of the table ahead of the restart.
They come into this one on the back of three successive 2-1 victories against Le Havre, Lorient and Lille prior to that break before then hammering Avoine OCC by four goals to nil in the Coupe de France last weekend. That means they have suffered just one defeat ion their last nine matches themselves, across all competitions.
