After a couple of seasons in which they have overperformed general expectations, Lorient begin the 19th match day of the 2023/24 Ligue 1 campaign sitting rock-bottom in the table. They have managed just two victories in their 18 matches so far this season but Regis Le Bris does remain in charge for this weekend.
They come into this one on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Lille a couple of weeks ago, which followed on from being beaten 2-1 by Ligue 2 side, Sochaux, in the Round of 64 in the Coupe de France. They are winless in ten matches across all competitions and have conceded 38 goals in their 18 games so far this season.
LE HAVRE
Following promotion last season, Le Havre have enjoyed an impressive 2023/24 Ligue 1 campaign as they try and avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table after three victories in their last four matches across all competitions.
The visitors come into this one on the back of defeating lower league Chateauroux by a goal to nil in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France in their most recent outing. In Ligue 1, they defeated nine-man Olympique Lyonnais by three goals to one a couple of weeks ago as they move themselves away from the bottom three.

THE PREDICTION
This is a huge game between two sides that are going to be involved in Ligue 1’s relegation battle until the end of the season. Lorient have been dreadful throughout the campaign but they have at least remained entertaining and proactive to watch. They face a Le Havre side that have been the opposite of that and that has served them well as they steadily progress. Le Havre, though, are likely to come under severe pressure away from home and a double chance bet in favour of Lorient would appear good value for this one.
