THE LOWDOWN

FULHAM

It has been a really disappointing month or so for Fulham. In active and quiet transfer window compounded a month in which they agonisingly missed out on an EFL Cup final for the first time ever, losing 3-2 on aggregate to Liverpool, whilst also suffering a 2-0 loss at home to Newcastle United in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The Cottagers come into this one on the back of yet another frustrating result as they threw away an early two-goal lead at Turf Moor to share a 2-2 draw with The Clarets last Saturday afternoon. That draw with the Lancastrian strugglers means that they have won just two matches inside 90 minutes in their last 12 games across all competitions.

BOURNEMOUTH

After a slow-ish start to the season, AFC Bournemouth have quickly picked up to become one of the most effective and entertaining teams to watch in the Premier League with an intense pressing style combined with an abundance of attacking quality in terms of personnel, as well as a natural flair and fluency in their overall play.

The Cherries do, though, come into this one on the back of back-to-back 1-1 draws that will leave them frustrated, having taken the lead in both matches against West Ham United and Nottingham Forest. Andoni Iraola’s side are now winless in four Premier League matches but have a game-in-hand to close the gap on the top ten and even potentially the top seven.

THE TEAM NEWS

FULHAM

Marco Silva has had to contend with two new injury issues for this weekend. Netherlands international right-back Kenny Tete will be missing, as well as Mexico striker Raul Jimenez.

Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi remain at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria but Fode Ballo-Toure is back whilst Adama Traore has finally be passed fit for a first-team return, as has Harry Wilson.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Adarabioyo, Ream, Robinson; Palhinha, Reed; Decordova-Reid, Pereira, Willian; Muniz

UNAVAILABLE: Bassey (International duty), Diop (Injured), Iwobi (International duty), Jimenez (Injured)

BOURNEMOUTH

In his pre-match press conference, Andoni Iraola has confirmed that January signing Enes Unal will be available for Bournemouth this weekend after not having his work permit granted in time for last week.

The Cherries will remain without the likes of Tyler Adams and Max Aarons due to injury issues, whilst Danish international midfielder Philip Billing is suspended, too, so is also unavailable.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kelly; Cook, Christie; Semenyo, Kluivert, Sinisterra; Solanke

UNAVAILABLE: Randolph (Illness), Hill (Injured), Fredericks (Injured), Aarons (Injured) Adams (Injured), Billing (Suspended)

THE PREDICTION

These are two of the more entertaining teams to watch with progressive coaches in the respective dugouts. As mentioned, Fulham will want to bounce back from a frustrating few weeks so they will likely be on the front foot. Their 23 matches in the Premier League have consisted of 66 goals, whilst Bournemouth’s 22 have had 71 goals. The Cherries have scored a minimum of two goals in nine of their last 13 matches across all competitions and another high-scoring and entertaining affair is to be expected at Craven Cottage
