It may not have been pretty but Crystal Palace got the job done last week against newly-promoted Sheffield Utd to kick off their season with three points.
Odsonne Edouard was the difference between the two sides as he scored the only goal of the game early in the second half. This could be a big season for the French striker, who has yet to really make the striker spot his own at Palace. Given the departure of Wilfried Zaha over the summer, Hodgson will need the likes of Edouard to step up to the plate.
ARSENAL
Recent Community Shield winners Arsenal began their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest - a result that makes the game look closer than it was.
A quick-fire double from Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka in the first half did the damage for last season's Premier League runners-up, but there were one or two nervy moments late on after Taiwo Awoniyi halved the deficit in the 82nd minute. The Gunners ultimately held on though, and there is hope in the camp that they can make another push for the title this season.

Michael Olise is still some way off returning to action while Will Hughes and Matheus Franca are also sidelined. Tyrick Mitchell and Cheick Doucoure were fit enough to start last week so Roy Hodgson could well opt to go for an unchanged line-up for this one.

Mohamed Elneny and Gabriel Jesus remain out, while Albert Sambi lokonga and Folarin Balogun have a chance of making the squad.

THE PREDICTION
There were some promising signs last week that Arsenal are not going to let last season's bitter disappointment effect them in their pursuit of glory this time around. Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace are likely to put up some stubborn resistance here, and Selhurst Park is never an easy place to go, but the Gunners have the edge in quality all over the park and the likes of Declan Rice will be feeling more settled at his new club now. The hosts may hold out until half-time, but expect Arteta's men to find a way through the Eagles rearguard.
