BURNLEY
Burnley put in an industrious performance against Aston Villa but were ultimately defeated by an opponent who simply boast superior quality all over the pitch. There was at least something to cheer about on Wednesday though, with Vincent Kompany's men progressing in the EFL Cup thanks to a late win at Nottingham Forest.
Lyle Foster's first Premier League goal was one of the highlights of last week's defeat to Villa, but a Matty Cash double and a third from Moussa Diaby made the difference in the end.
TOTTENHAM
It's so far, so good for Spurs in the post-Harry Kane era with new signing James Maddison shining in particular, and he was the star of the show in last weekend's 0-2 victory at Bournemouth.
The summer signing from Leicester opened the scoring early in the first half, and was a constant menace throughout. Bournemouth did threaten to get back into the game, but Spurs made sure of victory when Dejan Kulusevski when converted Destiny Udogie's cut-back midway through the second half.
Ange Postecoglou did suffer his first setback midweek though, with his side eliminated from the EFL Cup after a penalty shootout defeat to fellow Premier League side Fulham.
THE TEAM NEWS
BURNLEY
Hjalmar Ekdal and Vitinho both suffered injuries in the midweek EFL Cup fixture, although the latter does have a chance of recovering in time for this game, while Anass Zaroury remains unavailable through suspension.
Aaron Ramsey got more minutes under his belt midweek and will be considered for a start, while Kompany will consider one or two other changes as he searches for his first points of the campaign.

THE PREDICTION
This is hardly an ideal fixture for Burnley while they seek their first points of the campaign, as they run into a Tottenham side who appear to be functioning well in the new possession-based approach that Ange Posteceglou has brought to the club. Spurs have the edge in all departments, particularly in the final third where they are capable of doing damage to this Burnley rearguard. Another defeat for the Clarets is in the offing.
