THE LOWDOWN
ASTON VILLA
On the face of it, the 5-1 defeat to Newcastle last week is an extremely poor result, but in truth the scoreline didn't fully reflect the match as Villa actually played some decent football.
Newcastle were just incredibly clinical, with Sandro Tonali, an Alexander Isak brace, Callum Wilson and Harvey Barnes breaching Emiliano Martinez' net, while debutant Moussa Diaby claimed Villa's only goal. Unai Emery's side won't face many tougher tests this season, and there is certainly no reason to panic right now.
EVERTON
Everton pushed and probed but, as has so often been the case over the last couple of seasons, were unable to put the ball in the back of the net against Fulham last weekend, and ultimately paid the price for their wastefulness.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored the only goal of the game to consign the Toffees to a 0-1 defeat, leaving Sean Dyche desperately hoping for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to return to fitness and supply some much-needed bite in attack.

THE PREDICTION
Although they suffered the heaviest defeat of the opening weekend of Premier League action, there will be no panic in the Aston Villa camp and it would be no surprise if they were to bounce straight back and claim the three points here. Everton's away form left a lot to be desired last season, winning just once on the road in the league, and against a Villa side motivated to right the wrongs of last week, a home win is in the offing.
