THE LOWDOWN
SPORTING CHARLEROI
Mid-way through the first-half of last season, before the break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Sporting Charleroi appointed their former manager Felice Mazzu in the dugout and he has led his Charleroi side to a really poor start to this campaign. The former Union SG and Anderlecht boss is under serious pressure.
They started the 2023/24 Jupiler Pro League season with a 1-1 draw with Oud-Heverlee Leuven. That was followed up with a 2-0 defeat at Cercle before back-to-back draws against Standard Liege and Genk. Then, last weekend, they were beaten 2-1 by an Anderlecht side that are currently sitting at the top-of-the-table.
SINT-TRUIDEN
Sint-Truiden have been one of the steadiest sides in the Jupiler Pro League. However, over the summer, they appointed former Basel and Al Nasr coach Thorsten Fink as their manager, to try and offer a new spark. They will be one of the sides concerned by the reduction of the league from 18 to 16 teams, though, as that could see them drawn into the battle down towards the bottom end of the table.
They have started this season in fairly bizarre and inconsistent form. Their opening match saw them defeat a struggling Standard Liege side by a goal to nil before then defeating more struggling opposition in Kortrijk. Since then, though, they have collected just one point from three matches against Anderlecht, Gent and Cercle Brugge.

THE PREDICTION
These are two evenly matched sides that finished in the middle-of-the-table last season and they are expected to do once again. However, they both remain in the bottom-half of the table after their opening five matches of the season with the two teams combining for just seven goals so far – which is very different to the usual attacking standard of the Jupiler Pro League. Under 2.5 goals, given that, seems inevitable for this Sunday evening clash.
TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
