Runaway Belgian Pro League leaders Club Brugge were held to a disappointing, by their standards, 1-1 draw at Sporting Charleroi on Friday night in the first of their two games in-hand on the rest of the division and they travel to Gent on Monday to fully catch up. The hosts could be emboldened by Charleroi’s efforts here as they hope to hold onto an eight-match unbeaten run in the league. Gent have been drawing too many games of late as their aim to reach the European play-off places looks to be slipping away but a draw at home to the champions would be a big result and considering Club Brugge are already totally comfortable with their unassailable lead at the top of the table. Over all competitions, Club Brugge have failed to win a game away from home in their last three and so taking this for an outright draw could be a risky, shrewd option here.
