THE TEAM NEWS

BELSHINA

  • Belshina’s bleak season continues as they come off a 4-0 hammering away to Shakhtyor last Friday and that means that they remain winless after ten rounds of matches and are firmly entrenched at the bottom of the Belarusian Premier League standings.
  • Defender Vladislav Yasyukevich returns to the squad after missing the loss last time out and after conceding four goals without him, the 25-year-old is certain to come straight back into the starting eleven after being an ever-present in the previous nine matches.
  • Brazilian creative spark Nivaldo, who recently joined the club, looks likely to miss out once again through injury which will not help a team that has only managed to score seven goals in their opening ten matches – the second lowest tally in the division.

SLAVIA

  • Slavia’s form has been wildly inconsistent in recent weeks as they sit just below mid-table and they have taken six points from their last seven games in the league though they will be targeting a win against the bottom club here.
  • After their bright start to the season which saw them win two of their first three matches, Slavia have now just picked up one point in their last three games and the goals have dried up having scored just once in those three games.
  • They will be able to count upon Vladislav Malkevich after he missed the home draw with Gorodeya last time out following his dismissal against Shakhtyor, although he may have to make do with a place on the bench if they go unchanged for this game.

THE PREDICTION

Belshina’s plight is already looking incredibly comprised even at this early stage of the season and they desperately need to pick up their first win of the season if they are to have any chance of avoiding the drop. This match does represent something of an opportunity for them however against an average Slavia side, although they will have to show some marked improvement from last weekend’s heavy loss. The 4-0 defeat along with the return of a regular starting defender from suspension may see them prioritise a clean sheet, and against a struggling Slavia attack, expect under 2.5 goals in this game.
