THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTH AFRICA

As we head into the third placed playoff, South Africa are likely to make a couple of changes as they try and give minutes to some of the more unheralded players in their squad. They will be forced into one change following Grant Kekana’s red card in the second-half of extra-time in their semi-final against Nigeria the other day.

PREDICTED XI (5-4-1): Williams; Mudau, Mashego, Xulu, Mvala, Modiba; Tau, Mokoena, Sithole, Zwane; Makgopa

UNAVAILABLE: Kekana (Suspended)

DR CONGO

Much like South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo are likely to give some other players that haven’t played much throughout the tournament some minutes in this bronze medal playoff. Sebastian Desabre is fortunate to have been blessed with an abundance of talent in attacking positions for that to be the case.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Mpasi; Kalulu, Mbemba, Inonga, Masuaku; Pickel, Moutoussamy; Elia, Bongonda, Wissa; Bakambu

THE PREDICTION

A third place playoff tends to be derided by many but both of these sides are playing for pride and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as their manager has discussed and the players have shown with a protest during their national anthem on Wednesday evening, are trying to bring joy to those suffering the ongoing civil war in their country. DR Congo have the attacking talent to split open a tight contest, which this is still expected to be, and backing them would appear the best bet on Saturday evening.

TIP: DR CONGO TO WIN
