THE PREDICTION
In a rather strange turn of events both Turkish Cup semi-finals will be played this midweek as immediate rematches from last weekend’s Super Lig encounters. Besiktas host Istanbul Basaksehir off the back of a 3-2 win and Antalyaspor have an opportunity to right the wrongs of a 4-0 defeat away at Alanyaspor suffered on Saturday. That defeat was Antalyaspor’s first in an incredible 15 matches over all competitions, though five league draws in a row before Saturday showed a trend in the wrong direction. Alanyaspor are unbeaten in three in the league and have scored eight goals in that span to edge closer to the European places in the Super Lig. This cup clash should be a fiery one considering their total domination of their visitors at the weekend but in this reversal it could be a lot closer. Antalyaspor’s penchant for a draw suggests this could take extra time or penalties to decide and so picking the away side to qualify by any means and both teams not to score looks a useful option here. Especially as, notably, only one side has scored in each of their last eight competitive meetings since 2018.
