Fiorentina vs Como Preview: Team News & Prediction

This should be one of the most entertaining games to watch in Serie A this season between two of the more front foot and proactive sides as Fiorentina face Como.

Fiorentina preview: Front foot Fiorentina

It has already been a busy start to the season for Fiorentina with the 2023 and 2024 UEFA Europa Conference League finalists, and 2025 semi-finalists, having qualified for this season’s league phase by defeating Polissya Zhtyomyr last month.

I Viola, now coached by Stefano Pioli, have started their 2025/26 Serie A campaign in disappointing fashion, though, with two draws and a defeat in their opening three games. They most recently suffered a 3-1 loss at home to Napoli last weekend.

Como preview: Cesc’s Como

Cesc Fabregas has been put in charge of a big spending and ambitious Como side that will be pushing for a top seven finish and potential European qualification in Serie A, and their performances have been strong at the start of this season.

They were denied all three points against Genoa at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia last weekend, though. They were 1-0 up before Jacobo was sent off in the 88th minute and then Caleb Ekuban equalised for Genoa in second-half stoppage-time.

Fiorentina team news: Gudmundsson a doubt

Iceland international attacker Albert Gudmundsson is a key man for Fiorentina, but he is a doubt for this weekend as they welcome Como to Florence this weekend.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): David de Gea; Comuzzo, Pongracic, Ranieri; Dodo, Mandragora, Fagioli, Sohm, Gosens; Kean, Dzeko

Unavailable: Kouame (Injured)

Questionable: Gudmundsson (Injured)

Como team news: Jacobo suspended

Jacobo is now missing through suspension after his red card. They also have some key injury absentees, too, such as Ignace Van der Brempt, Alberto Dossena and Assane Diao.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Butez; Vojvoda, Smolcic, Kempf, Alex Valle; Da Cunha, Caqueret; Kuhn, Nico Paz, Jesus Rodriguez; Alvaro Morata

Unavailable: Jacobo (Suspended), Van der Brempt (Injured), Dossena (Injured), Diao (Injured)

Questionable:

Fiorentina vs Como prediction

The two teams have managed just one win between them so far this season, despite the fact that they are both teams that will be looking for at least a top seven finish in Serie A. Fiorentina have a strong and deep squad, but are looking to gel under Pioli, whilst Como have perhaps been a little unfortunate to have only managed four points from three games thus far. This should still be quite an entertaining encounter at the Artemio Franchi, though.

Fiorentina vs Como tip: Both teams to score
