Key stats

  • Feyenoord and Celtic have met three times in UEFA competition, their most notable clash coming in the 1970 European Cup final, where Feyenoord triumphed 2-1 after extra time. More recently, they faced each other in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League group stage, with Feyenoord winning 2-0 at home on Matchday 1 and Celtic responding with a 2-1 home victory on Matchday 6.
  • Feyenoord are unbeaten at home against Scottish clubs in UEFA competition, recording five wins and one draw from six matches.
  • Feyenoord have won five of their last seven UEFA competition matches at home (L2).
  • Feyenoord have lost six of their last eight UEFA competition matches (W2).
  • Celtic are winless in their last five UEFA competition away matches against Dutch opposition (D1 L4), a run that dates back to their 3-1 victory at Ajax in the first leg of a Champions League third qualifying round tie in August 2001.
  • Celtic are without a win in their last 16 UEFA matches away from home (D6 L10), since a 3-2 victory at Ferencvárosi in the Europa League group stage in November 2021.
  • Celtic have won only one of their last nine UEFA competition matches (D4 D4).

Feyenoord vs Celtic prediction

Coached by Robin van Persie, Feyenoord have been quite impressive this season. The home team come into this one on the back of poor form in the UEFA Europa League, though, with one win and three defeats in their four league phase matches. They have also been knocked off the top spot in the Eredivisie after a 4-2 loss to NEC Nijmegen.

They now face a Celtic side that remain without a permanent manager and Martin O’Neill still in charge on an interim basis. The Bhoys edged past Saint Mirren by a goal to nil at the weekend but their most recent outing in this competition saw them beaten 3-1 by Midtjylland in Denmark.

Celtic may be steadier domestically but they still have what was, or is, a retired manager at the helm and a Feyenoord victory, especially at home, is to be expected.
