Fabian Marozsan looked on course for the final of the Bucharest Open last month as he took the first set against qualifier Daniel Merida Aguilar, but he went on to lose in three. The Hungarian has since lost in the second-round of events in Monte-Carlo, Munich and Madrid.
He faces Vit Kopriva in the first-round of the Italian Open. The Czech’s clay court campaign began poorly, as he failed to qualify for the Monte-Carlo Masters and could only reach the second-round of the Grand Prix Hassan II. However, Kopriva’s form has improved in recent weeks, as he advanced to the quarter-finals of the BMW Open and then won three matches in a row to advance to the round-of-16 in Madrid.
Marozsan has won their only ATP meeting, but Kopriva has won all three of their matches on clay at lower-level events. The latter is performing strongly at the moment and could have the edge over Marozsan here.
