Fabian Marozsan is through to his first semi-final of the season after beating Daniel Altmaier in straight sets. The first set was comfortable for Marozsan and he was on course for victory when he went 3-0 up in the second. Altmaier fought back with a break of his own and forced a tiebreak, but the Hungarian won the last three points to claim a 6-2 7-6 (5) victory after one hour and 59 minutes.
He now takes on Daniel Merida Aguilar. The Spaniard is through to the semi-finals after his opponent Titouan Droguet retired in the third set. Merida lost the first set and needed to save three match points in the tiebreak before drawing level. He was leading 4-6 7-6 (7) 3-1 when Droguet decided that he could not continue. This will be his first appearance in the semi-finals of an ATP event.
Marozsan is the clear favourite on this occasion. Merida conceded 11 break point opportunities during his quarter-final match, and he can’t afford to do the same against Marozsan.
