Espanyol vs Rayo Vallecano prediction

A late Kike Garcia goal handed Espanyol a 0-1 win at Celta Vigo last weekend, solidifying their place in the top half of the table. Manolo Gonzalez's side will surely be pushing for a European spot come the end of the season, assuming they can maintain their current trajectory, but there will be no cup success after they lost to Atletico Baleares in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.

Rayo Vallecano, renowned for their high-energy style, come into the weekend as one of the division’s more awkward mid-table sides, capable of upsetting bigger clubs but equally prone to dropping points in winnable fixtures. 

With just one defeat in their last six games across all competitions, which came against Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Conference League, Rayo Vallecano are in decent shape right now.

Both teams have reason to believe they can win this one, and it could very well be a case of the two teams cancelling each other out. The midfield battles will be key here, in what is expected to be a low-scoring affair.
