Emma Raducanu lost in the second-round of the Korea Open last week, despite having multiple match points against Barbora Krejcikova. Raducanu failed to get the job done in the second set, with the two-time Grand Slam champion coming back to win. Nevertheless, she will look to get past that disappointment with a strong end to the season, which would likely see her seeded for next year's Australian Open in January.
Cristina Bucsa is her opponent. The Spaniard advanced to the second-round after a straight sets win over Donna Vekic. She won the first five games of the match and recovered from a deficit of 4-2 down in the second to win 6-2 6-4.
The head-to-head is 1-1 after two earlier meetings in 2025. Bucsa won the first match, coming from a set down to win at the Singapore Open while Raducanu came out on top in the second with a dominant victory in the first-round of Queen’s Club.
Bucsa has won six of her last seven matches, qualifying included, after making the round-of-16 at a Grand Slam for the first time just last month at Flushing Meadows. This is a tricky match for Raducanu, but she still has a strong enough game to win.
