Emiliana Arango booked her place in the final of the Guadalajara Open after a straight sets victory over Elsa Jacquemot. The Colombian reeled off four straight games at 4-2 down to take the first set and broke in the 11th game of the second to win 6-4 7-5 after one hour and 52 minutes. Arango had an impressive first serve percentage of 80% and is now just one match away from her first title on the WTA Tour.
She will have to get past Iva Jovic after the 17-year-old reached her first tour-level final with a three set victory against Nikola Bartunkova. Jovic saved a match point in her quarter-final match and went a break down early in the decider here, but recovered well to win 6-3 6-7 6-3.
This is a huge match for both players and there is very little to separate the two after strong campaigns this week. Jovic has battled her way through admirably and her solid all-round game may just give her the edge as she attempts to win her first WTA title.
