Elsa Jacquemot vs Antonia Ruzic prediction
Elsa Jacquemot enters the main draw of the China Open as a lucky loser. She failed to make it of qualifying after a loss in the second stage to Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva. Nevertheless, she enjoyed a fine run in Guadalajara less than a fortnight ago, making the semi-finals after wins over the likes of Elise Mertens and Maria Sakkari. That was her best ever result on the WTA Tour.
Antonia Ruzic has not competed on the tour since her first-round loss to Taylor Townsend at the US Open. That would have been a disappointment for her after a commendable run in Monterrey a week earlier, which saw her get through to the quarters as a qualifier.
This is their first match against each other on the WTA Tour, though they did play on the ITF circuit last year in October, with Ruzic easily winning 6-2 6-3. She will be well rested and has the quality to produce another positive result against Jacquemot.
