Elmer Moller picked up his first ATP win of the season after he beat Adrian Boitan in straight sets. He broke in the middle of the first set as he comfortably took the lead. However, Moller went 5-3 down in the second but he reeled off the last four games in a row to claim a 6-3 7-5 win after one hour and 40 minutes.
He now takes on Mariano Navone in the next stage. The Argentine beat Christopher O’Connell in straight sets. Navone went ahead but a lengthy second set saw O’Connell fail to serve it out on two occasions. It went all the way to a tiebreak, with Navone saving three set points to win 6-4 7-6 (8). He has already found form this month, having won the Cap Cana Challenger.
Navone has a far better record on this surface compared to Moller, and he should be regarded as the clear favourite to advance to the quarter-finals in Bucharest.
