Elina Svitolina reached the semi-finals of the Stuttgart Open after a straight sets win over Linda Noskova. Svitolina had lost the two previous meetings against Noskova, but she took the lead after dominating the first set tiebreak. She was broken when serving for the match initially, but she succeeded at the second attempt to win 7-6 (2) 7-5 after one hour and 40 minutes.
She now faces Karolina Muchova after she beat Coco Gauff. The Czech had significantly struggled in their previous matches, trailing Gauff 6-0 in the head-to-head. However, she made a confident start and largely controlled the first set. The pair exchanged breaks in the second, but Gauff would prevail to level the match up. Muchova broke in the sixth game of the third set and crucially saved three break points in her very next service game as she wrapped up a 6-3 5-7 6-3 victory.
Both of these players have enjoyed brilliant seasons up to this point, and this should be a very competitive semi-final encounter.
