Elina Svitolina continued her strong form as she eased into the third-round of the Miami Open with a straight sets win over Emerson Jones. The 17-year-old won her first ever match at a Masters event in the first-round, but she could only force the one break point as she was beaten 6-2 6-4 by Svitolina. The Ukrainian has already won 20 matches in 2026.
Her next opponent is Hailey Baptiste. The American pulled off a scalp in the previous round as she beat Liudmila Samsonova in straight sets. Baptiste, who reached the semi-finals of the Abu Dhabi Open last month, was not at her best on serve and was broken when serving for the match initially. Nevertheless, she succeeded at the second attempt to seal a 6-3 7-5 victory.
