Elina Svitolina will hope to live up to the hype that is seeing some punters tipping her as a dark horse for a maiden Grand Slam title at the 2026 French Open.
The Ukrainian has been in excellent form so far this season, lifting two titles which includes a magnificent charge in Rome earlier this month.
The five-time Roland Garros quarter-finalist will tackle Anna Bondar first up with the world number 58 picking up some excellent results on clay across several tournaments.
Indeed, one of those wins came courtesy of a 6-3 6-4 triumph over Svitolina in Madrid this year.
The Hungarian has won her last two encounters with Elina without dropping a set, while the Ukrainian prevailed in the first couple of showdowns to leave the head-to-head tied at 2-2.
Svitolina actually claimed a 7-6 7-5 success in their maiden tussle at this very tournament last year and it may well be a similar battle with Bondar capable of giving one of the favourites a bit of a fright.
