Elina Kalieva vs Katerina Siniakova prediction
Elina Kalieva is a qualifier in Madrid, following wins over Suzan Lamens and Anna Blinkova. She has been a threat on the ITF circuit this season, winning a title in San Diego along with two quarter-final finishes in Midland and Madrid. She also notched up a WTA 1000 win in Miami after a thumping victory over Francesca Jones, while she also qualified for the Open de Rouen last week, losing in the first-round.
Katerina Siniakova has not participated in a singles match since her straight sets loss to Camila Osorio in the first-round of the Miami Open. She did pull off a brilliant victory at Indian Wells as she ended Mirra Andreeva’s defence of her title in the third-round. That resulted in a round-of-16 appearance at the WTA 1000, her best result of the season so far.
Siniakova is a very capable clay court player and starts as the firm favourite to beat Kalieva, though the latter will take confidence from her battling wins in qualifying.
