Elena Rybakina vs Liudmila Samsonova prediction

Elena Rybakina dug deep to reach the final after overcoming a slump in the middle of her match against Beatriz Haddad Maia. After winning a hard fought first set, taking it on a tiebreak with nine points to seven, Rybakina then won just one of the following eight games. 

She was staring at the prospect of going a double break early in the decider, but then reeled off six straight games to win 7-6 1-6 6-2 against the Brazilian. This is her first final since Stuttgart last year and she now takes on Liudmila Samsonova.

Samsonova denied Danielle Collins the opportunity of back-to-back finals at the event as she won 6-4 6-2. The Russian is in her first ever clay court final and her first of the season so far. She had not been in any kind of form heading into this tournament but seems to have found her groove at the right time.

This will be their first match on clay but Samsonova comfortably leads the head-to-head 4-1. She won their first four encounters while Rybakina won their most recent match in Abu Dhabi last year. Given her poor record, the Kazakhstani will have to raise her game but we can still see her coming out on top. Apart from the middle part of her semi-final, she has been largely faultless in this tournament.
