Elena-Gabriela Ruse vs Madison Keys prediction
Elena-Gabriela Ruse ended a three-match losing run in the first-round of the Miami Open as she defeated Antonia Ruzic in straight sets. Ruzic opened up a 5-3 lead in the first set, but the Romanian reeled off four games in a row to go in front. Ruse was broken when serving for the match but dominated the tiebreak to win 7-5 7-6 (3).
She faces Madison Keys, who received a bye in round one. The American suffered a surprising loss to Sonay Kartal in the third-round of Indian Wells, despite going a set up. That was her first tournament since losing in the round-of-16 at the Australian Open to Jessica Pegula.
Keys leads the head-to-head 2-0 but has required three sets on both occasions to win, with the last match taking place at Wimbledon last year. Keys has not competed regularly so far this season and has been troubled in early rounds of events. She is the clear favourite against Ruse, but the Romanian has caused her some issues in the past.
