Elena-Gabriela Ruse vs Antonia Ruzic prediction
Elena-Gabriela Ruse began her clay court campaign in encouraging fashion as she reached the semi-finals of the Linz Open. The Romanian beat former British number one Katie Boulter in her first-round match, and then came from a set down to beat Dayana Yastremska and Jelena Ostapenko respectively. Her run would end against Mirra Andreeva, but Ruse has some momentum on her side as she targets a strong run in Madrid.
Antonia Ruzic struggled in Stuttgart last week, losing comprehensively in straight sets against Liudmila Samsonova. This was a second successive first-round exit at a WTA event for the Croatian. She found form earlier this season as she reached the quarter-finals in Dubai and the third-round of Indian Wells, but the results have since dried up for Ruzic.
She also struggles in the head-to-head as she trails 2-0, with Ruse winning their earlier meeting in Miami last month. Ruse is a confident player on this surface and does have a bit of form heading into this one.
