Eintracht Frankfurt preview: Chasing Champions League

Eintracht Frankfurt’s hopes of Champions League football next season suffered a big blow as they were held to a goalless draw by lowly St. Pauli whilst teams around them like RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim won. That leaves them currently in seventh-place and the gap between them and the top four is now well into double figures.

At home, Frankfurt have been strongly lately, winning their last two without conceding a goal. Borussia Monchengladbach were beaten 3-0, whilst Albert Riera’s side also defeated Freiburg by two goals to nil.

Heidenheim preview: Cut adrift

Heidenheim now find themselves ten points adrift of 16th-placed St. Pauli and automatic relegation is starting to look inevitable for them. They fell to a 17th Bundesliga defeat of the season most recently, losing 2-4 to Hoffenheim in a match which saw them fight hard but overwhelmed from an offensive point of view.

Their last victory came all the way back in early December and since then, Heidenheim have picked up just three points, all of which came from draws. They’ve been beaten in six of their last seven in the Bundesliga.

Eintracht Frankfurt team news: Multiple players out

Sule, Anton and Nico Schlotterbech should start as the back three with Bensebaini suspended, whilst Brandt likely faces a late fitness test after having been ill.

Unavailable: Knauff (Injured), Kristensen (Injured), Santos (Injured), Theate (Injured), Uzun (Injured)

Questionable: Batshuayi (Injured), Ebnoutalib (Injured)

Heidenheim team news: Illness hits camp

Heidenheim will be without both Christian Conteh and Tim Siersleben through illness whilst both Paqarada and Stergiou are injured.

Predicted XI: (4-3-3): Ramaj; Traore, Mainka, Gimber, Behrens; Dorsch, Schoppner, Kerber; Dinkci, Pieringer, Ibrahimovic

Unavailable: C. Conteh (Illness), Paqarada (Injured), Siersleben (Illness), Stergiou (Injured)

Questionable:

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Heidenheim prediction

When taking into account the gulf in class between these two sets of players, there is no excuse for Eintracht Frankfurt not to take care of business in this game, especially with home advantage being in their favour against the side who have the worst defence and attack in the league by a long way when you look at the numbers.

The question here shouldn’t be whether Eintracht Frankfurt win, it should be about how many they win by. Expect a victory by at least two clear goals as their far superior quality shines across the 90 minutes.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Heidenheim tip: Eintracht Frankfurt to win with -1 handicap
