Eintracht Frankfurt Preview: Toppmoller’s men march on
This season’s surprise package in the Bundesliga, Eintracht Frankfurt may sit proudly in second-place but aren’t settling for that. This past weekend saw them move to within four points of league leaders Bayern Munich with a resounding 0-4 win away at Heidenheim after Vincent Kompany’s side had drawn against Borussia Dortmund the evening before.
It’s now eight wins, two draws and just two losses for Eintracht across 12 league fixtures this campaign, although they were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal most recently at the hands of RB Leipzig.
Augsburg Preview: On the back of first win in four
Augsburg got back to winning way last weekend, overcoming Bochum by a goal to nil in a turgid encounter. The visitors will need to perform significantly better to stand any chance of coming away with a positive result here, although the backline arrive following a clean sheet.
Unlike their opponents here, Augsburg were triumphant in their DFB-Pokal game in midweek, edging past 2. Bundesliga side Karlsruher SC on penalties following a 2-2 draw which saw Augsburg salvage a dramatic equaliser in the 123rd minute to force a shootout.
