Eintracht Frankfurt preview: Entertaining Frankfurt

Under the management of Dino Toppmoller, Eintracht Frankfurt come into this one on the back of a thrilling 4-3 victory away to newly-promoted Cologne in the Bundesliga at the weekend, with their 11 league games having consisted of 49 goals.

In their opening four matches of the league phase of this season’s UEFA Champions League, Frankfurt began with a 5-1 hammering of Galatasaray before 5-1 losses to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool and then a goalless draw with Napoli.

Atalanta preview: Underwhelming Atalanta

Following the departure of Gian Piero Gasperini to Roma over the summer, Atalanta appointed former Southampton manager Ivan Juric but the Bergamasci eventually parted company with him over the international break.

That was because of winning just two of their opening 11 games in Serie A. Their 12th game, now coached by Raffaele Palladino, saw them beaten 3-1 by defending champions Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Atalanta prediction

The appointment of Palladino appears to be the better fit for Atalanta, certainly more so than Juric, as he is widely acknowledged to be a tactical disciple of Gasperini. They face a Frankfurt side that, with their gung-ho tactical philosophy, are perhaps the most entertaining team in European football. As a result of that, and Atalanta trying to rediscover their Gasperini routes, a high-scoring thriller should be expected in Germany.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Atalanta Tip: Over 2.5 goals
