The French hopeful gritted out a final-set tie break to sink Renata Zarazua and will now hope it is third time lucky against Kostyuk.
The 27th seed has won their two previous meetings - both on hard courts in 2022 - in straight sets.
Both players are in pretty solid form but Kostyuk has had the greater impact on this surface of late and we expect that and the psychological edge of a game-plan that clearly works, will see her achieve her goal.
