Diana Shnaider vs Suzan Lamens prediction
Diana Shnaider recovered from a poor start to make it through to the round-of-16 in Seoul. The Russian was also a break down on two occasions in the decider and was broken when serving for the match, but still came through to win 2-6 6-2 6-4 after two hours and nine minutes. It wasn’t the best of serving performances from Shnaider, who was broken on six occasions and committed eight double faults.
Suzan Lamens is her next opponent after she beat Tatjana Maria in straight sets. A close first set saw seven breaks of serve, with Lamens edging ahead. The second was more straight-forward, with the world number 64 conceding just one game to seal a 6-4 6-1 victory. She won a convincing 79% of her first serve points.
Shnaider leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a three set victory in the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Open last year. The Russian reached the semi-finals here in 2024 but will need an improved display if she is to get past Lamens. We expect this to go to three sets.
