Denis Shapovalov vs Pedro Martinez prediction
Denis Shapovalov enjoyed a good start to the season as he made back-to-back finals after the Australian Open. He won the Dallas Open, beating Casper Ruud but lost the Mexican Open to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. His form took a dip from there and the transition to clay has not been a successful one. He’s competed in four events and won just the solitary match, with that occurring in Madrid against Kei Nishikori but the Canadian would go on to lose in the very next round.
Pedro Martinez has also struggled in recent times. He is yet to complete consecutive wins on clay this season despite competing in a total of seven events. He was dumped out of the Hamburg Open last week, winning just five games against a rampant Francisco Cerundolo.
The head-to-head stands at 1-0 in Shapovalov’s favour, as he defeated Martinez on clay in Rome five years ago. He’s been in poor form but the Canadian still has the far greater pedigree and more weapons at his disposal in terms of dictating points. We back Shapovalov to make it through.
Denis Shapovalov vs Pedro Martinez tip: Denis Shapovalov to win 3-0 or 3-1
