With all of the recent attention in the darts world having been on world champion Luke Humphries and teenage sensation Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen has had to take a bit of a back seat of late, but that should only serve to motivate him even more. The Flying Dutchman is coming off the back of success in the recent Dutch Darts Masters, while he also reached the final in Bahrain a week prior. He has long had a love affair with the Premier League and the seven-time champion will be one of the chief protagonists once again.
Michael Smith, meanwhile, has failed to really kick on after winning the World Championship at the beginning of 2023, and although he remains a highly dangerous player with his incredible scoring power, you’d have to fancy MVG to come out on tops in this one.
