Prizmic was ahead in the tiebreak and had a match point, but Altmaier would win three points on the spin to clinch a 3-6 7-6 (1) 7-6 (7) win.
He faces Fabian Marozsan next. The Hungarian was not at his best in the previous round but still defeated Stefanos Sakellaridis in straight sets. Marozan won 7-6 (3) 7-5, ending a four-match losing run.
Altmaier will likely feel the effects of his earlier match in this one, and Marozsan should be able to work him around the court with his aggressive hitting.
