Daniel Altmaier vs Alexander Zverev prediction

Daniel Altmaier came from a set and a break down to beat Zhizhen Zhang in the first-round of the Italian Open. The German dropped the first set and looked on course for an early exit as his opponent broke again in the second and served for the match. However, Altmaier broke back and forced a decider by winning the set on a tiebreak. A break in the third game was enough for a 4-6 7-6 (3) 6-4 win.

He will now face world number three Alexander Zverev. The three-time Grand Slam finalist continued his consistent form as he progressed to the final of the Madrid Open. However, he was on the end of a crushing 6-1 6-2 defeat to Jannik Sinner, losing to the Italian for a ninth time in a row. Zverev is still without a title this season, but he is a two-time winner at this event, with victories in 2017 and 2024.

This should be a comfortable opening match for Zverev, as he continues his preparations ahead of Roland Garros.
