Justice Torres: Technical southpaw aiming to make his mark

Justice Torres (12-3) steps in on relatively short notice for this fight, but the 27-year-old brings solid credentials from his run in Fury FC. All 15 of his pro fights have come under the respected Texas-based promotion, where he remained consistent and was never finished.

Training out of 4Oz Fight Club in Houston — the same gym as the number 1 flyweight contender Joshua Van — Torres is a composed southpaw striker with sharp boxing technique. He typically accepts the back foot in order to stay upright and avoid grappling exchanges. With strong takedown defence and good get-ups, he’s tough to hold down and manages distance quite well.

Javier Reyes: Colombian looking for the mat

Javier Reyes (21-5) brings a wealth of experience to this bout, having turned pro in 2014. The Colombian is a dangerous grappler with a knack for ground-and-pound and submissions, boasting 17 finishes split between KOs and subs.

However, Reyes can be a little stiff on the feet, often leaving his chin exposed and looking to force the takedown. He holds a 2-2 record in LFA, including a knockout loss to Lerryan Douglas — who recently starched Cam Teague on DWCS. Reyes has decent control and submission hunting on the mat, but his takedown entries can be slow and telegraphed.

Justice Torres vs Javier Reyes prediction

Even with the short-notice circumstances, this looks like a favourable style match-up for Torres. He’s well-versed in handling grapplers and should have the takedown defence to keep the fight standing. On the feet, Torres is far more fluid and defensively sound, while Reyes tends to leave openings that a composed boxer can exploit.

Expect Torres to stay upright, manage distance, and either outpoint Reyes or find a finish if he catches him clean.

Prediction: Justice Torres to win
