The 2023 champion Dan Evans returns to Washington having skipped his title defence last year to compete for Team GB at the Olympics.

The Brummie opens against Belgian Zizou Bergs having shown flashes of his quality on grass to improve his ranking back into the top 150.

Bergs has struggled for form since reaching the final in s’Hertogenbosch and has lost his last four matches.

Evans certainly has happy memories to call upon to inspire him here, but whether the Brit can maintain it across the three sets against the world 53 remains to be seen.
