Damir Dzumhur was unable to make a deep run at the Cagliari Challenger last week as he retired in the first-round against Emilio Nava. The Bosnian was a set and a break down. Adrian Mannarino will be hoping to end a six-match losing run when he begins his campaign in Rome. The Frenchman has not won a match since the first-round of the Miami Open back in March. Mannarino did force a deciding set against Jesper de Jong in Cagliari, but he ended up losing in three.
Mannarino does lead the head-to-head 3-1, but they have never played against each other on clay. This is the veteran’s weakest surface by quite some distance, and Dzumhur will be the favourite.
