Dalibor Svrcina was dominant in qualifying, with straight set wins over Benjamin Bonzi and Nicolai Budkov Kjaer. This was preceded by some promising results on the Challenger Tour, as he progressed to the final of an event in Rome, and then a quarter-final in Ostrava. Svrcina has eight wins from his last 10 matches.
His first-round opponent is Miomir Kecmanovic. It’s been a dismal run for the Serb, as he has lost his last five matches in succession. He was defeated in the first-round of the Miami Open to Kamil Majchrzak, and that was followed up by early losses at events in Monte-Carlo, Munich and Madrid. Kecmanovic is yet to muster a win on clay in 2026. He did manage to reach the third-round of this Masters 1000 event two years ago.
Judging by form, Svrcina has to start as the favourite in this first-round match. Kecmanovic has already lost 13 of 21 matches this season, and he will have to start well.
