Cristian Garin vs Learner Tien prediction

Cristian Garin is on a three-match losing run as he begins his campaign in Paris. He did qualify for the Italian Open and won his first-round match against Juan Manuel Cerundolo, but he was beaten in the next stage by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. He then lost in the first-round of a Challenger event in Oeiras and failed to qualify for the Hamburg Open. Garin’s best result at Roland Garros is a fourth-round appearance in 2021.

He faces Learner Tien in round one. The American heads into this slam on the back of his second tour-level title, and his first on clay. He won the Geneva Open after getting past Mariano Navone in the final. This will be a huge confidence boost for Tien, who is still developing his game on clay.

Garin has shown himself to be a tough player on the surface, but he’s not quite as effective these days. It could be a quick turnaround for Tien, but he is a firm favourite to win.
